Elegant stair well lighting
This project required the design and manufacture of a quantity of edge lit glass panels, which were slim enough to fit within the restricted area between the internal wall and the floating stair treads, without reducing the impact and output of the luminaires.
The feature consisted of 11 ultra thin panels of edge lit low iron glass, each designed in such a way as to produce a seamless vertical output, flush mounted rather than the conventional surface mount design.
Each panel edge is finished in an attractive bronze frame detail. Edge lit with high power red, green and blue LEDs to provide not only an attractive colour changeable feature, but also to act as the main source of lighting for this central stair area.
Each panel of 6mm fret patterned glass is edge lit with RGB LEDs controllable via a 66 channel DMX full colour control system. Linked to the Lutron building management system, offering the end client near infinite colour change and moving scenarios.

T8 tubes
LED technology produces no UV light, and when the product is disposed of at the end of its life, it is easily recyclable, having none of the toxic polluting chemicals that are found in fluorescent tubes, such as phosphor, mercury and lead.
LED Tubes are available in a range of sizes and colour temperatures, including pure white typically used in businesses and other organisations, warm white which is used in the home and clear white for applications where a crisp white light is required.

T8 in use
These LED tubes use surface mount, solid-state LED technology. The LED tubes are designed to be compatible with most existing light fittings, by simply bypassing the ballast and removing the starter, thus eliminating the need and the cost for new fittings.

Low power consumption
We here at project LED often are asked about the heat management of LED luminaires compared to conventional halogen lamps and applications.
There is a lot of unsupported information surrounding the differences in heat generation between LED and Halogen.
We did a special test to compare these two different technologies. We think you will find the evidence very clear as to which product produces less heat.

Conventional halogen lamp
There is no doubt, LED is winning.
If you want more information about the comparision and the test circumstances,
please contact Britta Vorfelder
